Grading Policy

Image Assignments (20% of the final grade)

The weekly image assignments will be marked as completed or missed.
Missed assignments mean they were not handed in on time OR missed the point of the exercise.
Students electing to do the longer versions of the assignments (a full page response) will get
extra credit for each one completed, to a maximum of three.

Attendance & Promptness (10% of the final grade)

No need for notes, excuses, or explanations in this class. You are either here or not.
Up to three absences will not affect your final grade.
A fourth absence will drop your final grade by one plus or minus.
A fifth absence will drop your final grade by one full letter.
You cannot pass this course if you are absent six times or more.

Attendance is taken at 2:00, five minutes after the official starting time of class.
If you are not here for attendance then you are late, in which case you MUST tell me
on the break or you will be marked as absent. This is YOUR responsibility.

If you have to leave class early, tell me before class starts since that counts as a late too.
Five lates (or early leavings) will drop your grade by one plus or minus.
Six will drop your grade by a full letter.
You cannot pass this course if you are late or leave seven or more times.

Extra credit for anyone attending all classes on time.

Participation (10% of the final grade)

Not actively participating in class will not be held against you.
Participation will help your final grade.

Negative participation (sleeping, snoring, texting, etc.) WILL be held against you.

Exams (60% of the final grade)

There will be a series of tests throughout the semester to test your understanding
of the textbook chapters, the readings, and the course material. Some of these will be announced
and some will not.

There will also be three major exams throughout the semester, one of them on the last day
of class.

Paper

Students who are doing well enough to be in a position to get an A in the class by the end of
the semester will ALSO write a 4-6 page final paper, but ONLY with my advisement.
